Purpose
The main task for the Sweden – Latvia Cooperation Fund is to work for bilateral exchange and knowledge sharing between the countries. Networking between young people in order to enhance social cohesion, creativity, innovations and entrepreneurs is in focus. The Fund is also working to enhance the Swedish language and culture in Latvia and vice versa.
The Fund is an independent Foundation established in 2019 with the task to renewer and strenghten the relations between the two countries. The interest from the foundations capital is used to support exchange between groups, organisations and individuals. We welcome applications from anyone who is interested in vitalizing the Swedish – LatviaN cooperation.
The board, consisting of four members from Sweden and four from Latvia, is also interested in developing projects with new partners from the business sector. External donors and partners, interested in cooperation are welcome to contact us.
History
The initiative to Sweden - Latvia Cooperation Fund was taken in 2018 by the Swedish Government and presented by the then Minister for Foreign Affairs, Margot Wallström in a meeting with her colleagues from Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania at Skansen in Stockholm the 28th of May 2018. The motive was to celebrate the centenaries of the three Baltic States and to strengthen the relations, especially between youth, in Sweden and the three Baltic Republics.
