New projects granted - spring period of 2023
The Cooperation fund board met in Stockholm in the middle of May and decided to allocate close to EUR 18000 to projects applied for. The projects granted are:
Project grant #P2305_Janis Volberts, EUR 2000 Project title: “Challengeify Summerschool in Latvia”, the project idea is to organize study field trips to increase participants’ engagement and bounding around specific projects, enhance real life problem solving by applying academic knowledge and improve participants’ satisfaction with the learning process. Learn more https://www.mrforest.co/learningtraveling4students Expected outcome includes ideas for new startups with teams of students from Sweden and Latvia, knowledge and experience exchange, networking and new contacts, collaboration with local companies and startup ecosystem, new market discovery. Target groups are students from Swedish Universities, mainly World Maritime University, Jönköping University, Malmö University and KTH Royal Institute of Technology and partners are WMU (World Maritime University)in Malmö, Malmö University, KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Jönköping University.
Project grant #P2312_Madara Lapsa, EUR 3000 Project title: “Empowering Young Women through Intercultural Exchange and Violence Reduction”. The primary objective of this project is to empower young women, who are victims of violence, by promoting gender equality, women's rights advocacy, and reducing and preventing violence through an international exchange program. This project will bring together Latvian organization Centrs MARTA and Swedish organization Unizon to exchange experiences, best practices, and strategies for promoting gender equality and preventing violence against women. Target group is young women who are victims of violence and partners in Sweden the association “Unizon”.
Project grant #P2318_Iveta Cālīte-Miglāne, EUR 2400 Project title: “För dig ska musiken bara vara ett smycke (For you music is just an ornament)”. This is a concert focusing on Fanny Mendelssohn, based on a manuscript by Ellinor Skagergård about Fanny Mendelssohn with the same title. The program brings the audience back to the 19th century, and to the popular musical salons in Europe at that time. The target group is people interested in women composers and the evolution of women rights and role in society and partners in Sweden is Amelia Jakobsson (cello/soprano), Helena Maria Falk (violin), Ellinor Skagegard (writer/journalist).
Project grant #P2315_Liselotte Östblom, EUR 3200 Project title: “Swe-Lat Jazz Showcase & Culture exchange”. The project idea is to create a Latvian jazz showcase during the Stockholm Jazz Festival, which will involve collaboration between Latvian jazz musicians and music students from Stockholm. This showcase will include a workshop and a collaborative concert that will be open to the public and require tickets. The main objective of this project is to bring together Latvian and Swedish musicians, and promote awareness of Latvian music during the Stockholm Jazz Festival program, while also fostering relationships between the two groups. Target groups are students of “Lilla Akademien”, as well as other jazz and music enthusiasts based in Stockholm and disaporah. Partners: Maija Moira Mazanova, creative director at Kultūrtelpas M/DARBNĪCA in Riga.
Travel grant #T2301_Oskar Söderman, EUR 800 Project title: “Residency at ISSP RIGA” - a two month residency at ISSP Riga to primarily work on editing a project to a book. In Riga I will spend time learning more about the culture, engaging with the art-community through an artist talk and an exhibition, make new contacts, and photograph. Partners: Issp Riga.
#T2302_Marcus Jansson, EUR 3250 Project title: “Scout Camp with Swedish and Latvian Scouts”. This summer a group of 12-18 year old scouts (app 25 participants) will go to visit the scouts in Sigulda (NE of Riga). Next year they are coming to visit a scout camp in Sweden. This year our weekly activities have focused on the world around us, understanding and helping others. The camp in Latvia represents the peak of this project. Expected outcomes include understanding other cultures and making friends.

#T2304_Rebekah Berger, EUR 1600 Project title: “Future Markers Performing Arts Exchange - Phase 1. The project idea aims at a renewed curiosity towards young artists in Sweden and Latvia. This will be achieved through an ongoing exchange of our contexts and performing arts contexts which will be ignited by this funding inviting the first exchange to Riga of three young artists accompanied by a leader of KONTRÄR.

#T2306_Lilian Lindevall, EUR 700 Project title: “The Sweden-Latvia Cooperation Fund Project”, aiming at integrating sustainable cooperation between Sweden and Latvia. This project would be aligned as part of 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
