Sweden-Latvia Young Professionals – Connecting and Engaging over the Baltic Sea

Do you want to develop your leadership skills? Do you want to get a better grip of a neighboring country? Would you like to gain new contacts in Latvia and Sweden? If yes – the Young Professionals program is for you – a unique opportunity to connect over the Baltic Sea!

The program is for people in the age range of around 20-35, with either proven leadership skills or a sincere interest in leadership. It is free of charge, including transportation and accommodation costs. Eight participants from each country are chosen.

This is the second year of arranging the program. You can read about the content and what previous participants have said about it .

Your investment is time – in total around 5 working days, an on-line introductory meeting, a visit to the embassy of the respective country, and a two-day long live meeting in Riga and a similar one in Stockholm. The content is specially designed by the Sweden-Latvia Cooperation fund in cooperation with Swedbank and SEB. But the idea is not to have only people from the business sector participating - on the contrary, the more diversity, the better! Intensive interaction through discussions with high-profile knowledgeable speakers as well as with other participants – the latter is as important as any of the lecturers! This is a great possibility to meet with high-ranking business leaders, politicians, ministers and diplomats, inspiring young innovators, and outstanding personalities from the cultural and academic worlds in both countries. Unique study visits are also included.

You might ask why this is important. Regional cooperation and good lasting relations are essential for business, culture, and innovation to grow and flourish, as well as for sustained peace and prosperity. For that purpose, great leadership is needed. In a world where collaborations designed to benefit peace and trade are dismantled, there is a need for new alliances and strong networks, for trustworthy and engaged people.

The Sweden-Latvia Young Professionals program is an exceptional chance to learn, to broaden horizons, and to diversify perceptions. You will get a better understanding of the peculiarities and subtleties of Swedish and Latvian ways of reasoning, and to develop lasting friendships and networks which can be of great importance to you both personally and professionally.
